looking for a day out?

i went cliff jumping in ithaca twice in the last week...and i am pretty sure that i am going to go back some time during this week. it’s only an easy 30 minute drive to get to, and it’s right on Cornell’s campus. it’s cool that it is on a college campus because you don't feel out of place if you go with a bunch of your college friends.

the first time i went with 4 other anxious guys who had never been. the only reason why we found the "hidden" trail to get to the cliffs is because we had some help from a Cornell student.

we had to walk about 200 steps down to reach the river. the steps took us through a forest full of little rodents running around. after a couple of minutes we found ourself at the end of a trail. the bridge, that is a popular spot to jump from, was right in front of us but it was pretty much empty. we didn't know if it was safe for us to jump from such a high spot. we were own our way off the bridge down a trail hoping to fine some people to talk to. after some time walking on the trail we found a couple of people jumping from nice spot....nice because it seemed lower than the bridge.

my friends and i stood around talking to the friendly couple that were jumping. since we were all kind of nervous we had them convince us that the water was deep enough for us to all jump. after they jumped in, we knew we had no excuse not to.

so there i was standing at the edge of the cliff looking down at the still water. its not that i was scared to jump…i was thinking about how it was going to feel to jump. i had gone skydiving over the summer and the same thoughts were going through my head on the cliff as they were in the plane. so i was brought back to reality when my friend behind me calmly said "are you alright man?" i looked back and nodded then turn and jumped.

it was amazing

by the time i realized i was falling i was deep under water surrounded by the cool refreshing river. i was hooked before i could take another breath of air.

we hung out for a couple of hours there jumping and swimming in the river we left. i went back later that week for round 2 and it was awesome again.

i plan on going as much as i can before the brutal winter comes

if you ever have a chance go to the cliffs in ithaca....it’s a great way to have an awesome time....oh yeah one more thing its free

Peace from the pent house suite

I went to school in Ithaca--we always went to the Buttermilk Falls gorge and slide down the rocks into the pools.
